Federal & Local Rules of Appellate Procedure

The Federal Circuit adopts various rules and directions for parties, litigants, and counsel to regulate practice before this court.  See 28 U.S.C. § 2071; Fed. R. App. P. 47; Fed. Cir. R. 47.

These rules are codified in the Federal Circuit’s Rules of Practice (available below).  The Clerk’s Office issues a new edition of the Rules of Practice following the adoption of changes to either the Federal Rules of Appellate Procedure or the rules of this court.
