Chief Judge Michel, Circuit Judge Newman and Circuit Judge Rader will speak at the 41st World Intellectual Property Congress taking place in Boston, Massachusetts from September 6 to 11, 2008. Chief Judge Michel will take part in a discussion among judges from jurisdictions around the world who specialize in deciding intellectual property cases. Judge Newman will moderate a panel discussion in the topic "Patent Litigation in the United States." Judge Rader will introduce and summarize a series of six mock patent trials which demonstrate procedures in the United States, China, England, Japan and Germany. Judge Arthur J. Gajarsa will be one of the keynote speakers at the 5th Annual Patent & the Financial Services Industry Conference on July 30, 2008 in New York City. Judge Gajarsa's topic will be "Insights into Federal Circuit Interactions with the Supreme Court, Congress & the USPTO." Conference details are no longer available online.

Judge S. Jay Plager will be the luncheon speaker at George Mason University School of Law’s ‘Hot Topics in Patent Law’ seminar on July 21, 2008 in Arlington,VA. Judge Plager's topic will be "Hot Topics -- Looking Ahead." Details of the program, co-sponsored by Banner & Witcoff, LTD, can be found at this link .

Judges of the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit will participate in the 10th Annual Bench & Bar Conference sponsored by the Federal Circuit Bar Association from June 25 to 28, 2008 in Monterey, California. Programs that include Federal Circuit Judges are: on the 26th, remarks by Chief Judge Michel on the State of the Court and a description of the Circuit Mediation Program by Chief Circuit Mediator James A. Amend; on the 27th, Judge Moore moderates a panel discussion titled "Perspectives of Technology and Innovation: The Trial Courts' View", Chief Judge Michel and Judges Rader, Linn, and Prost participate in a panel discussion titled "Perspectives on Technology and Innovation: Thoughts from the Circuit Level", and Judges Newman and Mayer participate in a round table discussion titled "Circuit and Trial Dialogue".
