On November 13, 2017, the Supreme Court’s electronic filing system will begin operation.  While paper will remain the official form of filing as under existing practice, parties represented by counsel will also be required to submit most documents through the new electronic filing system.  Attorneys who expect to file documents electronically will need to register in advance for the system.  Additional information is available at

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit will be closed on the Friday after Thanksgiving, November 24, 2017. Please see the administrative closing order here. For purposes of computation of time and motions to enlarge time under Fed. R. App. P. 26 and Fed. Cir. R. 26, November 24th will be considered a “legal holiday.”

Following public notice and comment pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 2071(b), the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit has amended the Federal Circuit Rules of Practice 47.4 and 47.5. The new versions of Federal Circuit Rules 47.4 and 47.5, as well as a revised Form 9 (Certificate of Interest), are available on the court’s website and in the Clerk’s Office.

These new disclosure requirements apply to all documents filed on or after October 2, 2017. On October 2, 2017, a revised version of the Federal Circuit Rules of Practice and Federal Rules of Appellate Procedure, as well as Form 9, will be on the court’s website (http://www.cafc.uscourts.gov).

  • For case-related questions on cases that have been scheduled for argument, calendar-related questions, and post-opinion matters, call the Court Services Team at 202-275-8035. 

Please note that the Clerk’s Office will discontinue the practice of answering procedural and filing-related questions by email as of this date. However, the Clerk’s Office is available to answer your questions by phone Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. (Eastern), by calling one of the above listed numbers. The routine maintenance window is extended on Saturday, August 19, 2017 for national system updates. The CM/ECF system may be unavailable from 5:00AM-1:00PM EDT.
