Announcements in 2010

The Honorable Kathleen M. O'Malley became a member of the Federal Circuit on Monday afternoon, December 27th, at a swearing-in ceremony in the chambers of Chief Judge Randall Rader, who administered the oath of office. Judge O'Malley was accompanied by her husband, George Pappas and her brother, Kevin McDonald. Circuit Judges attending the ceremony included Judge Bryson, Judge Clevenger, Judge Dyk,  accompanied by his wife, Sally Katzen, Judge Friedman, Judge Lourie, Judge Newman, and Judge Prost, Also present were Circuit Executive Jan Horbaly, Deputy  Circuit Executive Dale Bosley, and Seth Heller, Bill Raich, Jinrong Li and Pat Grob, members of the Chief Judge's staff.  James Benjamin of the Clerk's Office served as Notary Public and Shannon Chambers, also of the Clerk's Office, took photographs. Judge O'Malley was nominated to the court by President Obama on  March 10, 2010 and confirmed by the Senate on December 22, 2010.

The Federal Circuit has issued a list of revisions to be applied to the current version of the Federal Rules of Appellate Procedure, which is available on the Rules page. In this letter, issued by Clerk of Court Jan Horbaly, revisions to Procedures 1, 4 and 29 are detailed.

Chief Judge Randall Rader will give both the opening and closing remarks at "The Federal Circuit and Global Communities: The Evolving Landscape of National and International Jurisprudence" a CLE program sponsored by the Federal Circuit Bar Association. Circuit Judges Pauline Newman and Richard Linn will speak at the panel discussion titled "Judicial Perspectives on Developments Affecting the Circuit Community." Chief Judge Rader will also serve on the panel of international judges presiding over a mock IP trial.  The program will take place at the Ronald Reagan Building & International Trade Center in Washington DC. Chief Judge Randall R. Rader will be one of the speakers at a panel discussion on the topic "De-mystifying the Amicus Process and Its Practical Impact on Your Case" on Thursday, October 21, 2010 at the annual meeting of the American Intellectual Property Law Association. Chief Judge Randall R. Rader will give the keynote address at the annual dinner of the San Francisco Bay Area Intellectual Property American Inn of Court on Tuesday, October 19, 2010.
